This year football was really fun. We had practice from 4:00 to 6:00 every Tuesday and Thursday, and 10:00 to 12:00 on Saturdays. We got to play in the UNI-Dome. I would've rather played at Jack Trice or Kinnick, but it was still awesome. My number was 15 and I played C. (center). One of the best plays we ran was the QB keep reverse.
We played three jamboree games, and we won all of them. Our first game, we played Webster City and we lost. Our next game, we played SE Valley and won. The game after that we played FD and beat them. After that game we played in the UNI-Dome and the drive to Cedar Falls felt like it took forever. In the UNI-Dome, we played DSM Roosevelt. We beat them 18-16, and it was a close game. Then we played SE Valley again and won 18-14. Our last game, we played Webster City and lost again. We played nine games including our jamboree games and finished the season with a record of 7-2.
The sixth graders on our team were Orlando Hernandez, Cayden Schultz, Caden Bennett, Jordan Morris, Cody Gearhart, Zach Pamperin, Jack Mendoza, Damon Richter, John Peterson, Dustin Dawson, Tate Richardson, Korey Anderson, Karter Kennedy, Brandon Crail, and Trenton Sorenson. The fifth graders were Gabe Reyna, Ricardo Gaytan, Mack Morgan, Brody Allen, Jake Jeske, Brayden Carr, Felipe Calles, Latyhia Camden, Drake Canavan, Kolten Johnson, Connor Christopher, Dominick Melendrez, and Angelina Binkerd.
The three jamboree games we played Manson and beat them 35-0. Our next game, we played St Edmond and won 35-14. The third game we played, we won 14-7. The jamboree was very fun. After the jamboree, I went home to sleep for 3 hours before supper.
The first Webster City game was hard. We lost 14-21 because the RB (running back) scored a touchdown in the second half. Their team was really good. The second Webster City game, we lost. The second game there was a really big person number 41, and a good RB (running back) number 10.
The first SE Valley game, we won at home, and it was the teal team. That game I got to run the ball and I would have scored a touchdown, but we had to stay within the hash marks. We won 28-0. The second SE Valley game, we had to go to Gowrie. It is about an hour away. We beat them 18-14. I recovered a fumble that game.
At St. Edmond, we won. We went to FD to play. Orlando had a pick six, but it got called back because of a penalty. That game was really fun because it was one of our first games that we won.
The UNI-Dome game was the best game. Once we got there, people were already playing on the field. It’s inside, so the field isn’t grass, but it’s just like carpet. It was so big inside. There are 16,324 seats in the UNI-Dome. We played DSM Roosevelt and won 18-16. The echo in the UNI-Dome seems like it goes on forever. I played MLB (middle linebacker) on defense and C on offense that game.
On offense, I played center. Next to me were the two guards and next to them are the two tackles. Behind me is the quarterback and behind him are the running backs. The tight ends are on the outside of the tackle.
On defense, I played inside and middle linebacker. There are two inside linebackers and next to them are the outside linebackers. The free safety is behind the linebackers. The cornerback is on the outside of the outside linebacker.
